Tracking and Analytics - Ward Emails

Post by benmullins »

I don't think there is a way to accomplish this with the current tool (Send Message within LCR), but have any of y'all come across a way to be able to track open rates, bounce rates, etc. with your ward emails? I'm trying to gauge the reach and effectiveness of our ward's communications, but since I'm not tracking any of it I have no idea.

The Church uses Amazon SES for sending out LCR email messages and so they likely have access to "bounce rates", but that isn't available to anyone outside IT I imagine. The only failures that you're likely to be aware of are those email addresses of members in your ward that get added to the Amazon SES suppression list and for which the Message confirmation email says "The recipients below were rejected by the server. Please verify their email addresses." Also, there are likely some members in your ward who have unchecked the "Local leader email" subscription in their account settings so they won't receive emails from LCR. Beyond that I don't think there is anything available to those who send from LCR.

Perhaps the next time that you send out a message, you could include something near the bottom (or even at the top) a mini poll that asks "Did you receive this message?" and then guage the "effectiveness" by how many people respond?

Thanks for the reply - yeah, I figured as much, but was hoping somebody had come across something possibly. I guess I'll add it to my wish list of features that I send to IT.
