Helping ward member find church record of nephew that passed away

This is a bit off-topic, but a ward member asked if I could help him find the church record of a baptized nephew that recently passed away, and has been inactive for about 30 years. He wants to notify the church that he has passed away. He knows his name, date of birth, the year baptized, and his parents’ names. Does anyone know how to go about letting the church know?

I'd ask the ward clerk/membership clerk to call support. He'll need the full name and birth date.
