Mobile Recommend in NASW Area
I am a Temple Ordinance Worker, Bishop, and Stake Clerk (I know, but I will be released as a stake clerk this week). We have been informed that members of North America Southwest Area are now able to activate a mobile Temple Recommend in their tools app. However, it appears few leaders have received instruction how to do this. Neither I nor my stake are aware of procedure leaders need to take to help members. Can someone on this forum please provide step-by-step instructions that can be disseminated?

Mobile Temple Recommends
For leaders:
Issuing a Mobile Temple Recommend
Note that converting an existing recommend from paper to digital isn't possible if the individuals who interviewed them are no longer in that calling. The member will have to go though the process of getting a new recommend.

Re: Mobile Recommend in NASW Area
This is wonderful information. Thank you.
It seems however if there has been a change in the Bishopric and anyone other than the person who originally signed the members recommend attempts to change a paper recommend to a mobile recommend, it is kicked up to the stake to be activated. In my case as a new Bishop, I am unable to change any of my wards recommends from paper to mobile without issuing a new recommend with another interview.

Also the member wishing to use a mobile recommend must have a picture of themselves attached to their membership record.

Correct. That's covered in the guides linked to above.Biggles wrote: Tue Jun 03, 2025 2:52 pm Also the member wishing to use a mobile recommend must have a picture of themselves attached to their membership record.
The part about change in leadership is also touched on, but to me isn't quite as clear as it could be that this is a "start over".

Church begins offering option of mobile temple recommends
The article contains links to the guides already shared in previous posts, but also contains a bit more verbiage about mobile temple recommends that could be helpful for those members and leaders desiring a bit more than what's in the guides.

Re: Mobile Recommend in NASW Area
I'm curious what happens if someone wants to convert to a digital recommend, but it was issued by their prior ward.
I'm guessing they have to go though the interview with the current ward (which would have to check with the prior ward if it's been less then a year). But that's just a guess. I don't remember seeing any statement about that situation.
