Membership audit issues

Post by martincco »

I completed the membership audit a few weeks ago, but there are a couple of issues.

I went through the audit. We have a couple of brethren it said that their ordinations were done out of order. It listed this as a Possible Error, not an exception. I looked at the records and they looked ok to me. So I moved on. We had a couple of children who did not have records. I indicated this, and that I would complete it within 30 days. The checkmark turned green. At this point they were all green. So I had the bishop review it, and then I submitted it. The website shows that I submitted the membership audit on May 25, 2025. But then today, I got a notification that the membership audit was due yesterday, and I am late submitting it. The bishop wants me to submit the report, but even the Church website shows that I already did. I am confused.

So, is it showing this because I submitted too early (maybe submitting before June 1 doesn't flip the switch, and it thinks the submission was for the previous report?)

Maybe it accepted the report, but then later rejected it because of the priesthood ordination dates?

Did it accept it then reject it because we are working on the children's records?

Thanks - I just need to get this cleaned up.

Ward clerk here. I also submitted ours in May. There was no announced starting date. And I got the late notice today as well, so I submitted it again. So now it shows submitted June 16 and it was late. That will show up as an exception on the financial audit as they are tied together. I am not going to agree to an exception as it was submitted on time. The next financial audit should be interesting to say the least. This was an obvious headquarters programming error.

Our ward also got the membership audit past due message in LCR Actions and Messages. Our audit was submitted on 1 June with no exceptions. I called support and they have been getting reports from other units of the same issue where the unit has submitted the completed audit before the due date and still got the past due message on 16 June. Support would like all units that get the message to report the error to them so they can track down the origin of, or what is triggering, this erroneous message.

The followup email message I got from GSD support stated there is a 45 day window to complete and submit the audit. If I remember correctly, the email message I received as a reminder to complete the membership audit was sent on, or about, 1 May. Any audit submitted before 1 May most likely would not count for the mid-year audit.

This was included in the followup message: "As discussed, the analysts are working to figure out why this message was sent to units like yours that submitted their audits on time. Note that no further action is needed from your unit, simply disregard the incorrect message." I am holding onto that message just in case the membership audit past due notice comes up in the next financial audit.

I did call the GSD about this also. The cause is quite simple IMHO, bad programming. I would guess the authorized start date was not correctly entered into the code.

Sometimes I wonder who, if anyone, actually tests their software. Or who audits them :)

Thanks - it's good to know I am not alone. And that I didn't do anything wrong.

Just wanted to second this to put more eyeballs on it, also submitted a ticket. We completed audit on June 1st and June 16th received a notification it was still pending but when you go to the audit page, it shows completed. Hopefully they can get it fixed.

According to GSD support the error was found and fixed. They also said "If this message hasn't cleared on your end yet, continue to disregard it, it will eventually be removed automatically." That was on 18 June. I still see the error. I guess it may take more than a few days for the error to clear on the user display.
