Adding Previous Military Profile

I read that an update in Tools is allowing members to post previous or current military service to their profiles. How can I update my profile to reflect my service?

The What's Coming section in the Help menu of Member Tools is out of date. What's Coming references "Changes Coming in Version 5.4". Version 5.4 was to be released in August but the release occurred on 14 September. Some of the features mentioned in that section have not been released. Recording military service was mentioned as a coming feature in 5.4 but was not a part of that release.

Another feature mentioned in that article that has not come to pass is payment requests for all adults. Payment requests are still limited to organization leaders, bishopric members, executive secretaries, and ward clerks.

I wondered why the church would want to know military service. It says

Members can now indicate their military service on their profiles, whether current or past. Local leaders may use this information to connect members with available services.

I'm guessing by "services", they're talking about things like housing and health.

Services could also include some of the resources under Adults > Military Members in Gospel Library, pocket-size scriptures or hymns, garments in camouflage-friendly colors, military religious ID tag, contact info for local Church leaders where the member is stationed, etc. It could also be used as a cue for ward leaders to make sure the family is supported when a parent is away for military service.

This is really great. I didn't see any mention, so do we know if this is something that can be included in some kind of custom report? Perhaps there is a 'yes/no' toggle indicating whether a member has past/current military service, and then inside the member's profile more information is available. But I couldn't tell exactly what type of "military service" info will eventually be able to be recorded.
