Enabling Translation in Stake/Ward Zoom accounts

Post by henniger »

We are attempting to utilize our church provided Zoom accounts to broadcast our upcoming Stake Conference and we are struggling to enable language translation. We have been able to sign into the Zoom website using our church account Zoom credentials and enable the language translation option in the advanced options section but we are not able to see the translation controls in the Zoom application.

We have done this before with standard commercial Zoom licenses but this is the first time we are trying it since being granted church licenses.

Can you tell me if our accounts should be able to enable and use language translation and if so, what do we need to do to get that feature working?

Not sure if you fpund your answer ?

The Church Zoom accounts have some feature disabled - but allowing for interpretations - by translators is available

But you must enable this in the "meeting set" up as well and add the individuals information email - what language etc. You can add custom languages which are not listed.

The menus system has changed in Zoom as well -

Are you wanting to have translators speaking or just closed captioning translation? This page has Zoom Help Center links that may be useful: https://tech.churchofjesuschrist.org/wi ... l_Meetings

Zoom calls the enabled feature 'Language Interpretation'. References to 'translation' in zoom documentation typically refer to other features that are not enabled for church accounts.

You will need to enable "language Interpretation' on the webinar or the zoom meeting prior to launching. It is at the very bottom of the zoom meeting/webinar configuration screen. You can also add translators and their language.

__The host and panelist controls will not show if this checkbox is not selected prior to the meeting starting.__

We've updated the templates we use for meetings to always have that box checked. It doesn't change anything for meetings that don't need interpretation, but it keeps us from getting stuck.

Once the meeting has started, the host can click on the globe icon to enable interpretation. The host can also promote anybody that joins to a 'panelist' and then modify them to be an interpreter. Interpretation controls will show for anyone who was entered as an interpreter in the config, or is promoted as one after the meeting has started by the host.
