Church Meetings Overview

Technology Specialists help ensure Church meetings run smoothly by preparing and supporting the technology needed by leaders, teachers, and participants. Careful planning, testing, and troubleshooting can reduce distractions and help maintain a positive meeting experience.

As you prepare for meetings, coordinate with leaders and teachers to understand their technology needs and determine which rooms will be used. Because technology capabilities vary by room, advance planning helps ensure the appropriate equipment is available and functioning properly.

Note: Encourage presenters to download media before the meeting. Meetinghouse internet connectivity should not be relied upon for streaming media during meetings.

Technology may be used in a variety of meetings, including sacrament meetings, conferences, baptisms, funerals, classes, devotionals, interviews, and other Church events.

Technology Specialist Tasks

Depending on the meeting, you may be asked to:

  • Set up video displays for presentations and media playback
  • Configure mobile device or computer connections
  • Set up and test microphones
  • Configure audio and video distribution
  • Prepare audio/video backup solutions
  • Support presentation playback
  • Verify internet connectivity and performance
  • Set up live-streaming or virtual meeting solutions

Additional Considerations for Non-Chapel Meetings

When meetings are held outside the chapel, determine the appropriate:

  • Display technology
  • Audio distribution solution
  • Room setup requirements
